چکیده
We utilized in vivo 3tPhosphorous magnetic resonance spectroscopy (3tp MRS) to deterraine whether acute administration of diazepam alters brain oxidative and phospholipid metabolism in normal subjects. A primary motivation for these experiments was to establish whether sedation with diazepam, which is often required for patients to be successfully studied with MRS, alters 3~p metabolites. We present here the results of an initial study of eight subjects using 10 mg of diazepam and a second study of ten subjects using 20 mg of diazepam.

Asymmetry of temporal lobe phosphorous metabolism in schizophrenia: a 31phosphorous magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging study.
In vivo 31Phosphorous magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (31P MRSI) was performed on 18 chronic schizophrenic patients and 14 normal controls to determine if there was asymmetry of high-energy phosphorous metabolism in the temporal lobes of schizophrenic patients. Temporal lobe phosphorous metabolites were also correlated with severity of psychiatric symptomatology as assessed by the Brie...
متن کامل31Phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy of the temporal lobes in schizophrenia.
Eleven schizophrenic patients and nine normal controls were studied using in vivo 31Phosphorous magnetic resonance spectroscopy (31P MRS) to test the hypothesis of metabolic asymmetry in the temporal lobes in schizophrenia. The controls did not demonstrate any asymmetry of phosphorous metabolite ratios, percentage of phosphorous metabolites, or pH. In the schizophrenics, however, phosphocreatin...
متن کاملDetection of Glioblastoma Multiforme Tumor in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Based on Support Vector Machine
Introduction: The brain tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in the brain, which is one of the most important challenges in neurology. Brain tumors have different types. Some brain tumors are benign and some brain tumors are cancerous and malignant. Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is the most common and deadliest malignant brain tumor in adults. The average survival rate for peo...
متن کاملSome quantitative aspects of P magnetic resonance spectroscopy in vivo in an exercise physiology context
Phosphorous NMR spectroscopy (PMRS) has become a very important tool in biological research, since it allows non-invasive recording of essential features of tissue energy metabolism at a high time resolution. Here I present some of the concepts and key features of the technique as applied to human skeletal muscle with physical exercise as the main principle of intervention. Key-words: PMRS, ske...
متن کاملInsights into developmental muscle metabolism through the use of 31P-magnetic resonance spectroscopy: a review.
(31)phosphorous-magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((31)P-MRS) has become an extremely valuable technique to investigate changes in muscle metabolism noninvasively and in vivo. The purpose of this article is to critically review how (31)P-MRS has contributed to current understanding of muscle metabolic function in healthy children and adolescents. In addition, an overview of the basic principles o...
